Occoquan Regional Merit Badge Day 2017

Occoquan Regional Merit Badge Day 2017Occoquan Regional Merit Badge DayMonday, January 16, 2017 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EST) |
Time for the annual Merit Badge Day!
January 16th, 2017 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday) —
This year we again have a number of great classes, including most of the Eagle required badges and some other fun and exciting choices, such as Rifle Shooting, Chess, Plumbing, Law, and Leatherwork! Click “Order Now” to register and choose your classes (see complete list below).
Schedule:
- 7:00 am – 7:30 am — Registration
- 7:45 am – 8:00 am — Opening ceremony and announcements
- 8:00 am – 12:00 noon — Morning Class
- 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm — Lunch
- 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm — Afternoon Class
Advance ticket price of just $20 includes lunch and $5 in credit at the concessions stand! Walk-in registrations will be taken if space is available for $25.
Register soon to reserve your preferred merit badges and a lunch. For Scouts who want an extra lunch (for a small fee), please add that to your lunch count total during registration. For adults who want a lunch, please also add that to your number ordered.
Please click here for prerequisites for the merit badges. If you do not see the merit badge listed in the link then we have not been informed that any prior work will be needed. As always, per BSA guidelines, Scouts should obtain and read the pamphlet for a merit badge as they get started.
If your Scout wants to do only a morning or an afternoon class, please email us for accommodations.
Some classes, such as Leatherwork and Plumbing, have a small extra charge for necessary supplies. Please see the note when selecting classes.
Rifle Shooting is back again! Please note that classes for Rifle Shooting will occur a few blocks away from Freedom High, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3000 Dale Boulevard, Woodbridge, VA 22193. The shooting component will be scheduled at a later date by the instructors. Scouts will need to arrange their own transportation from Freedom High to the church. Lunches for the afternoon Rifle Shooting session will be sent to the church in plenty of time for the Merit Badge Counselors and Scouts to eat there.
We ask that one adult from each unit stay to handle any issues that might arise. We’re working on offering classes for leaders as well — stay tuned. Please let us know whether adding District Training to Merit Badge Day would help or hinder your experience.
By registering for this event you agree to allow group photographs of class settings to be released for promotional highlights.
***Update*** Registration Extended to 9pm on Thursday evening, 1/12/17.
After 9pm 1/6/2017 we will close online registration; changes and registration requests made by email will be closed at 9pm on 1/12/2017 so we can prepare rosters for counselors and blue card data to units. We will be happy to respond to requests to accommodate those interested in “walk-in” attendance.
(Units are responsible for providing and preparing blue cards; we will have a few on hand.)
If any classes have open slots there will be a chance for walk-ins on a “first come first serve” basis. Please allow for us to process those that have registered first.
We will make every effort to provide alternatives if a counselor is not able to attend that day, but cannot make guarantees.
Please email ORMeritBadgeDay@gmail.com with questions or for more information.
Thanks for your interest in Merit Badge Day — we look forward to seeing you!
